Hey Guys,
Been reading this forum since it started up but only decided to join up now. Recognise some members from aus300zx. I like reading about engine swaps, mine won't be as interesting as some of the ones on here as I'm most probably just going to swap my VG30DE for a VG30DETT. Planning on doing it when I finish up uni in a few years but in that time I want to acquire the donor car or half cut and also work on the list of parts I'll be wanting.
I have a project in mind for my zed... basically since I've spent so much money on it I've decided it wouldn't be worth it to sell it and buy a TT. Currently I'm about to place an order with conceptzperformance for kyb agx and eibach springs... once they arrive I'll be ready to install all my suspension goodies and I have a few brake upgrades waiting to go on too. Hoping to get them all in before the Great Ocean Road cruise and I've joined SAU and want to have another crack at DECA to see how much my car has changed in the past year... I'm not game to test it out on the streets.
After that I'll be saving up for my respray, hoping to get that done this year. I've only asked a few people for opinions on the colour I've chosen, I think it'll be the only Z32 painted in this colour.. it's not a crazy candy/ chameleon/ pearl though so don't worry... it's subtle but all the cars i've seen with this colour look awesome.
I'll only drop one hint about the colour... think... Nismo
After that i'll just be saving up for the engine transplant... only want a moderate power figure of 275-300rwkw. I've heard the stock engine can take upto 300rwkw so not sure if I should go forged or not... I think a member from aus300zx in QLD got 275rwkw using GT28R turbos... most probably thinking that a stock rebuild will be good enough for my goals but not sure yet, need to do more reading.
Any advice welcome.
cheers

Welcome aboard mate. Good to have another zedder.
sounds like you have the right idea and a good plan for your car. As erik said post some piccies up when you get a chance.
As for your power ideas. For that figure you are going to want all the bolt ons, on the exhaust and intake side. your gonna want a fuel system upgrade, maybe just a fuel pressure reg, maybe injectors.
Turbo's. Your gonna want something bigger that standard. hi-flowing the stockos could be an option. The GT28r's could be a bit of an overkill for a stock motor as you wont really be able to explore the turbo's without forged pistons. _________________

yep... Nismo Silver
I like how it's a really bright silver in the sunlight but it shows off the lines of the car nicely. hope it turns out nice. |

| haven't really thought too much about the engine yet niall... I think gt28R efficiency limit is about 21psi... Karl got 275rwkw running 15psi on these which is probably as much as i'd be willing to push them as i want to be safe... but at the same time i know i'm gonna want to see what 21psi can do... so maybe forged internals might be safer, just incase i want to dial up the boost later.... there's some good kits on ConceptZ. I'm not too sure about highflowed stock turbos, some have bad experiences with them. will have a look through some rebuild threads and talk to my mechanic next time i'm there... probably will need to work out a budget too. |
