Hello all,
I'm Chris, own a 1990 J-Spec 300ZX NA 5 speed and found out about this place from the Z forums. I've been tossing up wether to sell my Z and buy something a little newer (R34 Skyline, S15 200SX) or to keep the Z and swap the VG30 for a VH45 Nissan V8. If I do procede I will definately post up my progress.
I'm a mechanical engineer by profession and will happily give my opinion (if it's wanted or not ) about anything. _________________ Having dillusional dreams of V8 Z happiness...

Quad cam V8
All alloy heads and block
206kW @ 6000rpm
400NM @ 4000rpm (more than a R34 GTR!)
Forged bottom end with 6 bolt mains and main bearing brace
Standard engines have been known to rev over 8500rpm with upgraded springs and cams
THe heads on these engines are a work of art and the valves are massive! Tuned length intake manifold, 360cc injectors and can take over 600hp on the stock bottom end! _________________ Having dillusional dreams of V8 Z happiness...
LOL Yeah it would be a 450ZX. I'd have to get a custom rear panel...
Don't spose you know someone who'd be able to make up some engine mounts would you? I'm pretty shocking with the welder I know a really good machine shop to do the gearbox adaptor if I can't get one from the states cheap. I think I remember someone making a conversion kit with the mounts and adaptors... have to chase it up. i can make the mounts no worries chris, and i can get them checked by a QLD Transport approved engineer before they are fitted. thats no worries at all.
here are the last ones i made
thats seam welded 8mm plate with a stitch welded 5mm gusset. ispoke to the QT engineer before and after . he said they would hold a bridge up _________________

I might have to have a chat with your QLD Transport guy, I have a million and one questions to ask...

I dont think there is any need to get it pre - approved unless it is something that is outside the standard guidelines or even borderline
Installing a 4.5 litre n/a v8 into a 1500kg vehicle is well within the guidelines so as long as extensive firewall modifications are not neccesary it will not be an issue.
